How cool would it be to solve every organizational problem by playing with Lego blocks? Jason Little is one of 70 Lego Serious Play facilitators in Canada who run workshops to explore large organizational problems.

Little says problem-solving with bricks helps kinetic thinkers who have difficulties expressing their thoughts through speech or writing, and provides a safe way for workers to share things they don’t normally want to discuss.

Employees are asked to articulate their thoughts on an issue by building a representation of their ideas with Lego first and then explaining it verbally. “People explore things much more effectively with play,” says Little. “It substantially increases engagement because it gives everybody a voice.”

Here’s what happened when Little led the Canadian Business team in a session of Lego Serious Play.
